An ultrasound, or sonogram, is a safe, painless, and radiation-free imaging test that uses sound waves to create detailed images of the body’s internal organs and soft tissues. These tests assist our radiologist in diagnosing a wide range of conditions without any radiation exposure.

Preparing for Your ultrasound

A few simple steps can make your visit smooth and stress-free

  • Follow any preparations for your ultrasound. Our office will call you with specific preparations for your test in the days prior to imaging. Most common preparations include fasting or drinking water.
  • Wear comfortable and loose clothing
  • Bring your photo ID, insurance card, and prescription
  • Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to check in
  • If this is your first visit, please bring a CD copy of any previous imaging from other facilities.

  • Yes, we require prescriptions for all of our services, including all types of ultrasounds. The results of your imaging will be sent to your referring physician to support your ongoing care and next steps.

  • Please bring a prescription to your appointment or have it faxed to 631-588-4595.

  • Test results are typically available within a week following your appointment and will automatically be sent to your referring doctor.
