A DEXA scan is an imaging test that uses very low levels of x-rays to measure the density of the bone. Usually measurements are taken of the lumbar spine (lower back), the hip, and sometimes the wrist. Your radiologist uses this information to determine whether there has been a loss of bone density and to determine the risk of a bone fracture.
